Kay plays a senior investigation technician assisting Dr. Irwin at the crime scene. As for the story, she also allows for Cal's final reflections at the end of the story. She is there to gather information and perform her job. She has been working with Dr. Irwin for a considerable amount of time and she composes herself professionally and knowledgeably. While explaining her analysis of the crime scene, she tends to focus on the facts more than the people with whom she is speaking. She speaks with technical detail and is competent and knows what she's talking about. She is personable and friendly and proud to be a person that others come to for knowledge.
